Sunday 4th October

What a change in the weather. They got it about right with the wind dying down all day. So away at 7am with some lads from Romford, Essex. We had plenty of dogs and whitings but they just wouldnt leave the baits alone for the cod to find. I moved around a few times, trying to get the lads some cod, but we still couldnt get past the other fish.

A nice bit of colour out there today that we havent seen for a while so things are looking good.

Back out next week with hopefully good weather and a few fish.

Thanks for a great day guys nice to meet you all.

All the best, Steve

Saturday 3rd October

What a poxy day out. We thought we may beat the weather so we had an early start of 5am. We steamed outside into the Thames hoping to get a few hours out there before the weather got too bad. But I was wrong. It came early with the wind picking up all the time. So, up with the anchor and straight back into the Medway for a bit of shelter.

We managed a few fish dogs/whiting and lonley codling. But it got too uncomfortable so we headed for home. Sorry for a poxy day out lads hopefully it will be better on the next one.

All the best, Steve

Thursday 1st October

I don't normally do a report on evening trips but I'll now start to keep you updated. An evening trip is a great way to get out of the house to relax for few hours; catch a few fish, have a bacon roll and a laugh.

This time of year the fishing is good with plenty of dogs/whiting and maybe a few codling . There are enough fish to keep you busy for the evening.

Went out this evening and caught plenty of dogs and whiting but no codling. Weather was great, with a nice, flat, calm river with not a ripple on the water.

We only fish the Medway because travelling out into the Thames cuts down on fishing time.

There are always spaces on these evening trips. If you fancy going its usually Thursday nights but always call just to make sure.

Cost and times are at the top of the page.

All the best, Steve

Sunday 27th September

Another lovely day. Still the tide and colour are being a problem but we manged a few other species today. On the way out I saw the birds working, so in with feathers and out with the bass which were around the 3lb to 4lb mark. After a few drifts over them they soon moved off and so did we. Another ebb tide produced whiting/codling/pouts/dogs and dabs.

The tide soon dropped out so we decided to have another look back in the river which produced mackeral and more bass but only schoolies. After a real mixture of fish we called it a day and had a steady run back home.

Looking forward to next week. Tides are increasing so we should see some more of those codling. Thanks for a great day guys.

Saturday 26th September

What a cracking day. Lovely sunshine and flat calm seas - what more could you ask for. Well, what we needed was tide and colour, which we didn't get, so it made fishing that much harder. Still, plenty of fish to keep us busy but mostly whiting.

We did manage a couple of codling. One of which was 5lb that Leon christened with his new rod.

I spent most of the day making sandwiches with bacon and sausages that Adrian had brought along. All in all - a good day out. Thanks for a great day lads. See you all next month.

All the best, Steve

Sunday 20th September

Charlie's crew out today with a nice early 6am start. I decided to go back to the same place again today. It wasn't as busy; bit more of a north/north east breeze so it could of had something to do with it. But we still managed codling/whiting and dogs. The cod were again between 3lb to 5lb. All fish were caught on lug and squid. So its really healthy out there now and its only going to get better (we hope).

Roll on next weekend and hopefully more cod. Thanks guys for a good day.

All the best - Steve

Saturday 19th September

Rusalana's crew today hoping to get some more fish for dinner like last time they went. And that's what they got with whiting/dogs/codling/eels and smoothound so a good mixture of fish. It's good to see the codling here. Already the codling we caught were between 3lb to 5lb so not a bad stamp of fish. Weather was great with a flat calm sea.

Thanks for a great day lads and a good laugh.

All the best, Steve

Sunday 6th September

Hi guys! We were in search of a big bass today armed with nice fresh macks. We decided we would sit and wait for them. Well, we didn't have to wait long before a nice 9.5lb bass was soon brought on board to please Steve the angler. See picture in Gallery Area. I'm sure that is going to be a contender for fish of the month, which means he will have two places that day. The JAMMY GIT.

After landing that bass that was the only one we got but we were getting enough action with the skate. And yes the winter fish are on their way with plenty of whiting and dogfish to keep you anglers busy.

Please call to get booked in the diary for this winters cod fishing. Things are looking promising for a good season.

All the best, Steve

Sunday 30th August

Hi guys! Well, another blowy day. Grahams crew today first time out on the Dentex and it wasn't the best day I was hoping for. The fish didn't want to play. We only managed a few dogs and a skate of 8.5lbs. Sorry lads but I suppose it's the time of year. It's only going to get better, believe me. Reports next week as usual and hopfully a few more fish will be on their way.

All the best, Steve

Saturday 29th august

Hi guys! Well, not a great weekend weather wise sunny but a bit blowy. But I managed to get Ruslana's crew out today for a bit of Smoothound fishing. We got a few hounds up to 12lb some bass and yes, winter must be on its way because we had quite a few whiting today and some nice ones too. See you on the 19th September guys. Hopefully the weather will be a bit kinder for you. All the best, Steve

Sat 22nd August

Hi guys! Well, another weekend here and almost gone again. But we managed to get out looking for some bass. It was a day to sit and wait for them to play ball because of the big spring tides we didn't have a lot of options. But we managed a few fish ranging between 2lb & 6lb which I must add I did catch the biggest of the day, just to prove they were there. We also had a couple off skate. So not a bad day considering the time of year. The fish were caught on mack/rag/lug.

All the best, Steve

Sun 23rd August

Hi guys! Back to it again today and what a lumpy day it was too with a south east wind of 25 knots which was broadside most of the day. We got to our marks today but we could not fish properly at all. After I'd cooked sausages & bacon and made a cup off tea we decided to retreat back to the river and use up a few worms. Plenty off schoolie bass to keep us busy but not really what we were looking for. Just one of those days I think. Reports next week as usual and hopefully a bit more to report.

All the best, Steve

Sun 9th Aug

Mark Knights crew today and another lovely day back to the same area as yesterday and, yes, straight into the skate on the ebb tide. The biggest was around the 8lb mark so, off to a good start.

All set for the flood tide and guess what it didn't happen at all so plan b/c/d into action ony resulting in schoolie bass so we called it a day and had a nice easy run home.

All the skate were caught on squid/ragworm.

See you next month guys.

All the best - Steve.

Sat 8th Aug

Well we had Grahams crew out today and what a lovely day we had weather wise.

Fishing is still slow at the moment but we managed a few skate today with the biggest going to Malcom which was 10lb. Not bad for his first cast of the day and a contender for fish of the month.

Still no fireworks but we caught fish and at least Dave and Graham could go to sleep most of the day. All the skate were caught on squid and frozen macks. We may have caught more but Graham the crew oganiser left the ragworm on the kitchen side so he was not popular with the crew.

See you next month guys.

All the best - Steve.

Sun 27th July Cancelled due to high winds

Fri 25th July

Hi Guys

Another lovely day aboard the Dentex; weather was cracking. The fish are hard to find at the moment but the smoothounds are keeping the anglers happy. Some smoothounds today all caught on frozen peeler and a few dogfish too. Kenny won the sweep today with a nice hound so he was more than happy. See you all on the next one guys. All the best - Dentex

Sun 19th July

Hi Guys

We're sorry we haven't been updating the Skippers Blog and Photo Gallery recently but we've turned DENTEX CHARTERS into DENTEX CHARTERS LTD.

This has meant that we have had to sort out lots of stuff which took TIME. I've also been on holiday and changed jobs so as you could imagine its all been up in the air.

But we're back to normal now - I think!

June was hit and miss, with some days really good with bass/skate and smoothounds and other days a real struggle to find any fish, hey but that's fishing.

July has started off good with plenty off smoothounds being caught and a few skate.

We'll be keeping you up to date with more pictures too - so happy fishing.

Don't forget to get your dates booked for this coming COD season they're going fast.

All the best

Friday 29th May

sea , calm to slight becoming calm vis, good weather, overcast with sunny periods

Early start today  , we set off at 06:00 with Lynn's crew and steamed off to our fishing mark with a nice flat sea and sunny skies we were hopeful for the day so down went the anchor and we baited up the rods , with 1 1/2 hours of the ebb left we cast out the baits and waited only to be plagued by our old friends the dogfish . We got ready for the flood and waited again and the first skate over the gunnel for Stan Light of weighing about 7lb , plenty of bites unable to connect with the fish changed weight and hook sizes , then a skate to Lynn of about 9lb , but still having trouble hooking the fish and dropping fish with water , but for some reason the fish today just did not want to play , that's fishing so today's bag was skate dogfish and whiting , best baits herring , peeler crab on up-tide and down-tide rods , all the best Dentex.

Saturday 30th May , Trip cancelled due to high winds.

Sunday 31st May , Trip cancelled due to high winds.

Sunday 17th May, Trip cancelled due to high winds.

Sea, calm to slight becoming moderate vis

Weather, overcast with occasional sun and showers

Early start today away 05:00, locked out and off to our fishing marks we go, with plenty of banter and enthusiasm on the way, arrived at our mark anchor down baited up and cast the rods and waited for the action to start, not long before the first fish over the gunnel was a smooth-hound to Roy, then a skate to Steve Maytum, a hound for Chris a couple of more hounds then it all went quiet, with the tide still ebbing we moved a couple of miles and anchored up, and straight into fish for everybody, with bass, hounds and skate coming over the gunnels at regular intervals, then a nice edible crab for Chris, more hounds and dogs . So with the tide getting ready to flood and the wind starting to build we headed closer to home , anchored up for another hour where we had hounds, bass and skate, a good day had by all with plenty of fish, best bait today were fresh peeler and herrings. All the best Dentex.

Sunday 10th May

Sea, calm becoming slight

W 10knotts vis, good, weather, o/cast becoming sunny

Mark's crew today and an early start at 06:00.

Our thoughts for Robin who passed away 2 weeks ago as he was a regular with this crew, God bless you.

We arrived at our mark and anchored up feathers on and try for some fresh mackerel which we found, so we set the rods up with fresh mackerel and fresh peeler crabs and set them out, first blood to Steve with a skate of 8lb then the doggies arrived then with a really good bite for Steve and his rod nearly disappearing it was another nice skate of 12lb 4oz a contender for fish of the month, with the tide now starting to run the fish started to feed , a skate to Stan and another skate to Steve and a starry hound for Jim , then cruffs turned up it was dogs all the way, so as the tide eased we upped anchor and made our way home. Best bait today fresh mackerel and fresh peeler crab. All the best Dentex.
